LZHH at the Mulla Asghar Memorial Tournament (MAMT)

The August bank holiday weekend saw the return of the annual Mulla Asghar Memorial Tournament held by The Council of European Jamaats. This year, the three day tournament was held in Peterborough and saw people from all over Europe come together and compete in a variety of games and matches in sports including football, badminton, netball and volleyball amongst others.

Alongside the sporting events, the weekend was also an opportunity for community members from all over the continent to meet and enjoy spending time together. There were a number of stalls throughout the three days where people could sell food, drinks and other items.

The Lady Zaynab Helping Hands team had a stall in both the ladies and gents side where two of our dedicated volunteers, Anis and Shabnam Mawani, sold candles, canvases, Back to Basics recipe books, juices and sweet treats including doughnuts, ice creams and cookies. Together, the team raised approximately £300 throughout the weekend. The funds raised will all go towards our LZHH Syria Appeal, which provides food, medical and educational aid to the orphans and widows in the Sayeda Zainab area of Damascus.
